Weaving enlightened melodies with funk overtones from local and international music sources, Athi Maq offers a sound that honours the deep, rich beats and basslines crafted by generations before.

With a keen ear for picking tunes across eras and genres blending them seamlessly, creating her unique style, and experiencing her energy on the dance floor is described as a spiritual awareness, wrapped in rhythmic freedom.

The most recent and notable sets she’s played are at festivals, WOLFKOP, Smalltown Beat, Pangea, the soft launch for Cape Town’s treasured record store and listening bar One Park, the opening of Gorgeous George the Lobby, as well as hosting her own show on the Other Radio titled Ingoma.
